1. Agreement
You hereby represent and warrant that:
- you have read and agree to these Website Conditions and our Privacy Policy;

- all of the information provided by you to Royal College Union (including without limitation personal particulars and contact information) is accurate and complete.
Royal College Union reserves the right to change, modify, suspend or discontinue the whole or any portion of the Services or Site at any time. Royal College Union may also impose limits on certain features or restrict your access to parts or the entire Services or Site without notice or liability.
Royal College Union may from time to time vary or amend these Website Conditions by posting the amended Website Conditions at this Site. Any use of the Services after the amendment of these Website Conditions will be deemed to be acceptance of the amended Website Conditions by you. If you do not agree to the amended Website Conditions, you have the right to close your Account and/or cease using the Services.
2. Acceptance of the terms and conditions by users
You agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of Royal College Union ( aka Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited) set out below as the terms and conditions of your use of this website. You agree that by confirming your acceptance and logging your details that you will access, order products or use the services on our website in accordance with those terms and conditions. The copyright, patents, trademarks, registered designs and all intellectual property rights in the Services, the Site, and all Royal College Union content, including without limitation the copyright in the compilation of all User Content, shall vest in and remain with Royal College Union.

The contents of the website are regularly updated and revised and the copyright owner remains the same. You are permitted to use material for your own personal or non commercial use and for that purpose only you may copy and print such material on this website

The domain name on which the Site is hosted on is the sole property of Royal College Union and you may not use or otherwise adopt a similar name for your own use.
No obscene, offensive, defamatory or racially prejudiced material or material which do not relate to the user and false material will be permitted to be posted on our website. http://members.rcu.lk will remove such material without any notice and will take appropriate legal action against such party who posted the material. In any event http://members.rcu.lk reserves its right not to publish any article on the website without assigning any reason whatsoever.
4. Definition
".lk" shall mean the website at http://members.rcu.lk
"user" shall mean an individual subscriber or a user who is registered on our website including his/its successors and permitted assigns.
5. Exclusion of Liability/Disclaimer
We disclaim responsibility for any consequences arising from your access to or use of this website or any links. All contents which is included is entirely at the sole discretion of http://members.rcu.lk and may be altered or deleted at any time. Any material which you add to this site by way of postings or otherwise shall not be defamatory, in breach of copyright and shall either be cleared for use in this manner or shall be your own original material. You agree that we shall have the right to use any such material in our publicity, advertising or transmission for the purposes of our website.
6. Jurisdictional Issues
This Site is owned and operated by Royal College Union in Sri Lanka. Royal College Union makes no representation that the Contents of the Site are appropriate or available for use in your location. Those who choose to access this Site from any location do so on their own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws, if and to the extent local laws are applicable.
7. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold Royal College Union, and its subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, agents, partners, and employees, harmless from all claims, demands, actions, proceedings, liabilities (including statutory liability and liability to third parties), penalties, and costs (including without limitation, legal costs on a full indemnity basis), awards, losses and/or expenses, due to or arising out of:
- any use of the Site or any Service;
- your connection to the Site;
- your breach of any terms and conditions of these Website Conditions;
- your violation of any rights of another person or entity; or
- your breach of any statutory requirement, duty or law.
8. Use of data
Please do not submit any personal information or data without first reading our Privacy Policy which explains our data use and privacy practices in detail.
9. Confidentiality and the Disclosure of Information
The nature of services offered by is such that we need to divulge personal information to contact the originator (by one of Royal College Union staff member) of the Box or/and Classified advertisement to get more information about it when publishing it in our printed or online newspapers. In such an event it is implied that you consent for disclosure of information to such in our printed and/or online newspapers. It is not the policy of Royal College Union to divulge information received or collected from members to third parties other than for the purposes of Royal College Union.
10. Use of Cookies
Royal College Union recommends its users to enable the use of cookies on their browser to receive the best experience of our site. Cookies deliver the convenience of recalling sites you visited before and saves your time that takes to log on and to browse faster. Most browsers have this option enabled and option to disable or customize the use of cookies.
11. Termination of Service & Liability
Notwithstanding any other provisions set out herein this Agreement may be terminated by either party by giving 30 days’ notice to the other party a) if the other party commits a material breach of the terms and conditions; b) if the user has provided false and incomplete information to Royal College Union; c) If the user has posted obscene, offensive, defamatory or racially prejudiced material or material that infringe intellectual property rights of third parties to Royal College Union; d) If it is not in the best interest of users to provide services by Royal College Union; e) If the Royal College Union is declared to be a bankrupt person/body or is in the process of being wound up by a Court of Law or being wound up voluntarily. The termination under this clause shall not prejudice the rights and remedies of the parties that accrued prior to the date of termination.
12. Modifications
Royal College Union reserves its right to amend the terms and conditions of this agreement without any notice to the members. The members will be prompted to these amendments and have the option to accept or decline the amended terms and conditions. If the member declines to accept the amendments this Agreement will terminate immediately. In such event liabilities that accrued to the member prior to the termination of the Agreement will continue. If the member continues to use the site without accepting the amended terms and conditions of this Agreement he is considered to have accepted such terms and conditions.
13. Severability
If any provision of these Website Conditions is found to be illegal, void or unenforceable under any law that is applicable hereto or if any court of competent jurisdiction in a final decision so determines, these Website Conditions shall continue in force save that such provision shall be deemed to be deleted.
14. Waiver
No waiver of any rights or remedies by Royal College Union shall be effective unless made in writing and signed by an authorised representative of Royal College Union.
A failure by Royal College Union to exercise or enforce any rights conferred upon it by these Website Conditions shall not be deemed to be a waiver or variation of any such rights or operate so as to bar the exercise or enforcement thereof at any subsequent time or times.
15.Force Majeure
No party shall be liable for any failure to perform its obligations under this Agreement if the failure results from a Force Majeure Event (defined below), provided always that whenever possible, the affected party will resume that obligation as soon as the Force Majeure Event occasioning the failure ceases or abates.
For purposes of this Agreement, a “Force Majeure Event” is an event which is a circumstance or event beyond the reasonable control of a party which affects the general public in that party’s country or in the territory, and which results in the party being unable to observe or perform on time an obligation under this Agreement. Such circumstance or event shall include industrial action or labor disputes, civil unrest, war or threat of war, criminal or terrorist acts, government action or regulation, telecommunication or utility failures, power outages, fire, explosion, natural physical disasters, epidemic, quarantine restrictions, and general failure of public transport.
16. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Website Conditions and all matters relating to your access to, or use of, this Site and the Services shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Sri Lanka including without limitation the provisions of the Evidence Ordinance and the Electronic Transactions Act, without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law.
You hereby agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Sri Lankan courts.
